Raising as in raising a child — the parental verb, the work of bringing a young person up. Raising as in raising the topic — the activist verb, making something a subject of discussion that institutions have refused to discuss. Both meanings operate at the same time.

Every episode is built on the same visual language: silhouette figures against backlit backgrounds. No facial detail. No skin tones. Only the shapes of people in the moments that formed them. The visual style protects the story's power rather than exposing its wound. Mr. Kevin speaks over the silhouettes — the voice gives the meaning the image withholds.
Warm golden light for scenes of family and home — the deceptive warmth that masked cruelty. Cool blue for scenes of incarceration — the coldness that paradoxically contained real connection. The color inversion is part of the storytelling.
A five-year-old boy with a stutter, called into the center of the room by his aunt, asked to say his name. Again. And again. The origin of the runaway consciousness — the first cage was a family living room.
